Introduction to our client
Beyond Riders is a US based brand of premium protective gear for riders. We have partnered with them for an extensive and ongoing Shopify development project aimed at enhancing their online store's functionality, accessibility, performance, and user experience.
Full Redesign and Rebuilding of Product Detail Pages (PDP)
A significant aspect of our work was the complete redesign of the PDP. We crafted a fresh layout that includes season labels and new product options, along with an intuitive size chart display. To enhance usability, we restructured product descriptions into multiple dropdowns, leveraging metafields for dynamic content. This not only improved clarity but also significantly increased page speed, leading to a smoother shopping experience.
Product Restructuring and Reimports
Our team undertook extensive product restructuring, organizing the product catalog for optimal navigation. We enriched the product structure by adding numerous metafields, new structure for size options, and a refined tagging logic.
Apps Installation and Customization
To further enhance functionality, we installed and customized a range of apps. This included integrating Sobooster, Yotpo, and UpCart — each requiring styling and some custom coding and API connections.
Color Swatches for Solo Products
We custom coded color swatches for individual products, enabling customers to easily select their desired color option. By connecting different products with the same model but varying colors through metafields, we streamlined the shopping process, making it visually appealing and user-friendly.
Countdown for sales
We custom coded a time countdown as a global section that can be placed in the menu top bar. The settings in Customizer allow merchants to set up a date of sale end, change the promo text and assign a link that leads to the Sale Landing or Collection.
Accessibility audit and implementation of recommendations
With the help of 3 different tools we’ve performed a detailed accessibility audit and implemented all recommendations without any external plugins that may overload the website. By doing so we’ve made the store compliant to WCAG 2.1 (Level AA).
Ongoing Quality Assurance and Code refactoring
Our collaboration includes regular quality assurance audits and code refactoring. We remove outdated JavaScript and CSS and make sure that old apps don't leave any hidden scripts behind and nothing slows down the website’s performance.
