Heist Studios | Shopify Plus long-term project
Introduction to our client
Heist Studios is a unique foundationwear brand that produces innovative shapewear and tights. Our team delivers development solutions for the brand's Shopify Plus store that aim for building a loyal community around the brand, integrating analytic tools, improving speed performance and user experience.
Resolving speed issue
A client approached us with an issue of abnormally slow site loading—fully displaying the homepage took between 3 to 5 minutes. Previous attempts to optimize the site using standard code and image optimization methods had no effect.
After conducting an in-depth analysis, we discovered a custom Google tag present on all pages. This tag was sending a request to a non-existent service, resulting in a 502 status error. The page wouldn’t start loading until the maximum request timeout had elapsed.
Once we identified and removed the problematic tag, the desktop website’s loading time improved to 4-6 seconds. On mobile, we even achieved a Core Web Vitals - Passed status—an impressive result for a website with such a high volume of visual content, analytics tools, and applications.

‘Find the perfect match’ quiz
We’ve builded a fully custom quiz that shows a specific product variant as a result with the possibility to add the product to the cart. Each section, image, question and answer is fully editable in Customize mode.

Gift Card customization
The client wanted to go beyond default Shopify functionality for Gift Cards and create a PDP where we can sell gift cards with different designs for special occasions. The client wanted customers to see the chosen gift card image in mini-cart, on checkout and in the emails.
We’ve built a complex custom flow to fulfill the requirements.
Now each gift card variant is treated as a standalone product with a unique image, the gift cards are linked together through the metafields to be visible on the same PDP, with the first variant preselected by default. The selected variant’s image is displayed across key customer touchpoints, including the mini-cart, checkout, and emails.
